Hosted telephony 'a bright spot' for wireline voice core marketPosted 1 year 2 months ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2011-03-17 Rate this article: The latest update on the wireline voice core market from Dell'Oro Group notes the "bright spots" that different categories of hosted telephony represent. In particular, business VoIP solutions are among the areas of the channel that continue to show positive expansion. Among the technologies helping to drive business VoIP solutions towards success are SIP trunking, hosted PBX and unified communications. These, says Dell'Oro Group vice-president Greg Collins, are "key drivers of the impressive increase in the session border controller and voice application server markets". While all-IP solutions enjoyed positive growth in 2010, mixed-mode environments fell out of favour. As a result, the sector as a whole achieved a one per cent decline for the full year - much stronger still than in the previous two years of economic turbulence. The report looks at the interplay between different technologies, such as SIP trunking, with the wider market for carrier IP services.
