IP telephony solutions could be driving flexible working uptake

Figures released to coincide with the launch of the Unified Communications Expo 2011 in London indicate technologies such as IP telephony solutions may be among the driving forces behind the uptake of flexible working practices.

Among pre-registered delegates at the event, 45 per cent of those with a business focus were found to be of the opinion that flexible working can be an acceptable and productive way of employing staff.

However, among the technology-centric respondents, 61 per cent considered widespread flexible working to be an appropriate business structure.

While IP telephony solutions may be driving part of this trend, smartphones are also an important option for many, with 79 per cent of all survey respondents citing the handsets as being important to their business.

The Unified Communications Expo took place at Olympia in London on March 8th-9th; the next session is scheduled for March 6th-7th 2012 at the same venue.
