AVM FRITZ!Box 'bridges between home networks and broadband connection'

The FRITZ!Box from AVM can create the necessary link between a broadband connection and the home's automation network on a round-the-clock basis, the manufacturer says.

With the device in place and switched on, a 24-hour connection is created seven days a week to link electronics around the house to the outside broadband line.

"Internet-enabled devices such as the FRITZ!Box offer significant benefits in home automation," the company claims.

"They offer high-performance processing power for data processing," it adds, in their role as a bridge between the home network and the internet.

As well as being able to control some home devices, the box can also measure their performance and maintain a log, while regulating energy use across the property as a whole.

This is in addition to its other benefits, which include creating a layer of security at the perimeter of the home network and its support for VoIP phones and wireless communications.
