Hosted PBX offers a range of dynamic features that can provide numerous benefits for small and medium-sized businesses, it has been claimed.

Bob Leibholz, senior vice-president of sales and business development at email hosting company Intermedia, said this type of service can allow firms to deploy tools such as unlimited domestic calls, extension dialling and voicemail to email.

He explained that hosted PBX can act as a manageable front end for small companies, which can dramatically improve customer service.

"Companies are taking notice of VoIP solutions, but they want one built for businesses, not consumers, with more professional features," Mr Leibholz added.

The expert concluded by suggesting deploying VoIP technology of this type makes cloud computing an "affordable and valuable resource".

Latest figures from Infonetics Research showed the enterprise telephony and unified communications market experienced its third consecutive quarter of financial growth in the final three months of last year.
