Successfully merging technologies that companies already use is the key to implementing VoIP solutions without disrupting business operations, an expert has claimed.

Writing for Smart Business, ATW Management senior IT technician Jose Zamora remarked that integrating voice over IP technologies with existing email servers, mobile phone networks and internal call systems is vital.

"When effectively deployed with an existing data infrastructure, a VoIP phone system is the most practical foundation for businesses looking to converge their voice and data applications," he commented.

Mr Zamora went on to say that in the past, IP telephony was only seen as useful for global companies with multiple locations.

Now, however, firms of all sizes can utilise the latest VoIP features such as multiple call groups and overflow routing, he suggested.

In a recent article for Fox Business, Joshua Daymont claimed firms that employ VoIP services must not lose sight of security, as the number of hacker attacks via these systems has risen sharply in the last few years.
