Companies should start formulating a plan to incorporate mobile VoIP solutions into their business model, it has been claimed.

In an article for Information Week, Paul Korzeniowski stated IP telephony via mobile devices is becoming more and more mainstream as a result of the growing use of smartphones and social networking.

On top of that, workers are finding mobile VoIP has a number of benefits, particularly when calling from abroad, he added.

Mr Korzeniowski commented that picking a high quality service provider is critical if companies are to successfully deploy VoIP solutions, as a large number of concurrent calls can cause some networks to fail.

"With mobile VoIP services working their way into the mainstream, small and medium business[es] need to ensure that their use of these services helps rather than hinders their operations," he concluded.

Chief executive officer at ThinkGrid Rob Lovell recently suggested an increasing number of firms are turning to the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of cloud computing, a group of technologies which includes IP telephony.
