More firms 'recognising the benefits of VoIP'

Companies are increasingly turning their attention to VoIP solutions, a new study has claimed.

Detailed analysis by Research and Markets, in a report entitled VoIP In Western Europe: Opportunities & Forecasts, 2010-2015, showed more firms are discovering the cost savings the technology can provide.

Significant overhead reductions can be achieved because voice signals are transmitted as packets of data, which requires a lower level of technological infrastructure than traditional phone systems, the report stated.

It went on to reveal how the spread of 4G wireless services could lead to a worldwide explosion in VoIP take-up.

"Third and fourth-generation mobile networks are now being deployed with great rapidity, even in emerging markets, allowing for faster modes of exchange of complex voice and data signals," the study noted.

These findings come after managing director of Vox Orion Jacques du Toit told MyBroadband that internet telephony solutions are a "very attractive" proposition for enterprises.
