VoIP 'used more than ever before'

An increasing number of enterprises are starting to adopt VoIP solutions, it has been claimed.

In an article for Smarthouse, Oonagh Reidy claimed the solution is now "more widely used than ever", with residential customers also contributing to its uptake.

Furthermore, the benefits of using the service in conjunction with cloud computing are starting to be realised.

The author noted that cloud telephony means businesses do not have to spend money buying a lot of equipment as they no longer require phone lines.

Instead, calls are delivered over IP connection and the internet, Ms Reidy continued.

"Location is also irrelevant in the cloud and callers can make calls from their office number anywhere, allowing home and mobile working," the article added.

This comes after Mae Kowalke highlighted the findings of a Siemens white paper in an article for TMCNet.

He drew attention to the fact that more and more firms are beginning to adopt "intelligent branch solutions", which include cloud-based communications.
