VoIP users 'should add hosted fax'

Enterprises employing VoIP should consider adding hosted or internet fax services, it has been claimed.

The return on investment when implementing this type of solution can be "dramatic", according to TMCnet group managing editor Patrick Barnard, as it is "a proven way of increasing employee productivity and reducing operating costs".

Hosted fax reduces costs through the use of the broadband connection as opposed to a traditional phone line, Mr Barnard explained.

Productivity can increase as it reduces the number of physical trips employees make from their desk to the fax machine, he continued.

The expert went on to say it also saves money on paper costs and does not require any up-front investment in machinery.

Ongoing IT costs are also kept to a minimum as a result, he concluded.

VoIP was recently named as one of the top ten technologies of the decade by Indian telecoms resource Voice & Data.
