Nearly a third of British broadband users are planning to ditch their internet service provider (ISP) in favour of a new one in 2011, a new study has revealed.

Almost half of the respondents to a poll by ISPreview.co.uk said they are unhappy with their current level of provision, with 31 per cent claiming they are preparing to switch.

Speed was named as one of the primary reasons for this disgruntlement - 36 per cent described theirs as "poor".

Meanwhile, just over a quarter remarked they were unhappy with the level of broadband customer support they receive.

ISPreview.co.uk founder Mark Jackson said ISPs need to do more to improve customer satisfaction and "combat churn", but claimed he is positive for the future.

"We predict that the situation will improve as faster and more reliable superfast broadband services slowly become widely available between now and 2015," he commented.

Britons would rather give up sex and chocolate than go without internet access, a Sky Broadband survey recently revealed.
