Global demand for VoIP service equipment has increased over the past three months, it has been revealed.

Market research firm Infonetics Research has published its latest quarterly report on the international VoIP hardware market which shows that shipments for the majority of products have increased since the second quarter of 2010.

Moreover, the Asia-Pacific region is forecast to post year-on-year revenue growth for service provider VoIP equipment.

"The number 1 story that will come out of 2010 for the IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) and carrier VoIP equipment markets is China, where conditions are driving volumes up and pushing prices down," said Diane Myers, directing analyst for VoIP and IMS at Infonetics.

Ms Myers added that the main driver behind the growth of the industry in China has been the large network transformation projects in the country, with vendors willing to lower prices in order to secure lucrative contracts.
