A new microSD card has been launched which could help boost the security of mobile VoIP services.

Telecommunications security firm Sectra has released the Panthon card which can help prevent unauthorised users eavesdropping on calls.

Designed particularly for politicians and government officials, customers simply place the card in their mobile phone and hackers will be unable to tap into their VoIP calls.

"Our customers, who need to communicate when they are traveling and moving between countries, request secure IP telephony," said Michael Bertilsson, president of Sectra.

"With the unique safety solution that we have now implemented in Panthon, our customers will have access to a secure telephony solution with crystal-clear sound that will function effectively wherever they may be."

The card encrypts the call from sender to the receiver to ensure cybercriminals can not hack into a call at any point in the line.
