A communications security firm has launched a new software package which could help prevent hackers tapping into VoIP service calls.

The Enterprise VoIP Security Suite (EVSS), released by PrivateWave, aims to secure calls between landline, VoIP phones and mobile devices, reports scmagazineuk.com.

The package is specifically designed for firms who want to ensure private phone conversations between employees can be hacked into by cybercriminals.

Carlo Marchini, chief executive of PrivateWave, claimed the new package can help organisations guard against the growing threat of wiretapping.

He told the news provider: "Our Enterprise VoIP Security Suite is the first solution in the world able to secure company mobile-PBX and fixed phone conversations which are often at risk of illegal tapping.

"Bringing our solution to the UK market is an exciting opportunity for us and we are confident it will be a success."

The software is compatible with Nokia, iPhone and Blackberry mobile phones, while it will shortly be compatible with devices running on the Android platform.
