Business VoIP revenues will grow by 13 per cent in 2010, Infonetics Research has predicted.

According to the company, the global market grew by eight per cent in first six months of year, due to strong gains across both business and consumer sections.

Worldwide revenue from VoIP services reached $22.6 billion in the first half of 2010, Diane Myers, directing analyst for VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research explained.

She said: "The market for business VoIP services slowed during the financial turmoil of 2009, but we are now seeing a good uptick in new business across all segments, particularly in IP connectivity services."

The report also indicated that business VoIP accounts for approximately 98 per cent of total industry revenues, even though residential demand is beginning to pick up.

It highlighted SIP trunking as the largest segment of the revenue stream from IP telephony, although managed IP PBX, hosted VoIP and unified communications remained strong.

Recently, TMCnet suggested that services such as SIP trunking and IP PBX are transforming business telephony by allowed firms to extend their IP voice networks over a wider geographic area.
