Mobile phone users could be able to access VoIP solutions without an internet connection following the release of a new device.

UK firm Speedflow Communications has released its Mobiglobe chip which is attached to a SIM card to enable mobile phone customers to make VoIP calls "without a 3G or even a Wi-Fi connection".

Upon dialling a number, the call is re-routed through the VoIP provider's local access number, potentially significantly lowering costs.

Speedflow claim call charges can be reduced by as much as 70 per cent compared to those offered by traditional mobile operators.

Mobiglobe users must pay for the initial connecting call to the VoIP carrier, before benefiting from the cheaper service plan available with IP telephony solutions.

Consumers are not required to switch to a different operator or their SIM card, as calls can still be made from the user's original contact list.

this is really wonderful development and would be opening many possibilities for the customers with a cost effective manner, if the entry cost is decided wisely.
