A new iPad application has been launched which allows users to make VoIP calls, it has been revealed.

San Francisco-based firm Fuze has released its Fuze Meeting software, enabling iPad customers to host a business meeting for the first time rather than simply log into one.

Consumers can set up a meeting and invite users of other devices such as iPhones, BlackBerry and Android phones to attend.

During the conference, attendees can communicate with each other via IP telephony solutions, while they can also share files and display and manipulate photos.

Jeff Cavins, chief executive of Fuze Box, claimed the firm is aiming to collaborate technology to increase worker efficiency.

He said: "We've spent two and a half years perfecting our cloud computing platform which has enabled us to build a loyal user base across iPhone, Android and BlackBerry users, with the iPad being our most exciting launch to date."
