Business VoIP users should ensure there is sufficient bandwidthPosted 1 year 5 months ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-09-07 Rate this article: Businesses should ensure there is sufficient bandwidth available to support their VoIP service, it has been claimed. IP telephony solutions rely on adequate internet download speeds to ensure calls do not cut out and audio quality remains undiminished. During times of high network traffic, VoIP solutions may not receive enough bandwidth and the standard of calls will be reduced. Bhagwad Park, a small business VoIP expert, expressed his belief that this is a reflection of "poor bandwidth management" rather than an issue with the technology. He wrote on ezinearticles.com: "Regular phone lines are dedicated - meaning they can't be used for any other purpose. Many large firms do the same for VoIP and ensure that their bandwidth is dedicated - or else they have sophisticated traffic control mechanisms to ensure that other traffic doesn't interfere with VoIP bandwidth. " Mr Park also advised firms to ensure they have an adequate back-up electricity supply to ensure VoIP calls can still be made in the event of a power cut.
