The UK VoIP solutions could be boosted by the continued roll-out of BT's broadband service.

The telecommunications giant has confirmed that fifteen million British households and businesses are now connected to its high-speed internet network.

Over five million of the connections are made directly through the firm while the remaining lines are delivered by other companies, such as Sky and TalkTalk, who use BT's infrastructure.

IP telephony solutions could benefit from the expanding broadband network as faster download speeds can improve call quality.

Olivia Garfield, BT strategy director, said: "Broadband Britain has been a success story with widespread availability, low prices and high take up."

BT has added around 14.8 million connections in the past eight years – the equivalent of more than 5,000 new broadband lines every day.

The firm is currently rolling out its £2.5 billion fibre-optic broadband network across the UK.
