VoIP traffic could rise significantly following the expected release of the new Blackberry tablet.

According to Chinese website applydaily.com, Blackberry-makers Research in Motion (RIM) has signed a deal with Taiwanese notebook makers Quanta Computer to manufacture the device.

The new tablet will reportedly offer the mobile internet via Wi-Fi, which would enable users to access mobile IP telephony solutions.

Furthermore, the device could have a front and rear facing camera, a 9.7-inch screen and contain a 1GHz Marvell Processor.

It is expected to go on sale this November priced at around $500 (£320).

Hewlett-Packard is also expected to launch a tablet later this year in its bid to compete with the popular iPad, while Dell and computer manufacturer Lenovo are also expected to release similar devices.

Apple has sold more than three million iPads since its release in April, which makes the firm the third-largest laptop distributor in the world.
