The quality of VoIP solutions could increase following the continued roll-out of BT's broadband network.

The telecommunications giant has confirmed that another 199 exchanges will be upgraded to provide super-fast internet access to a further 17 per cent of British consumers, reports ispreview.co.uk.

BT has now upgraded 504 exchanges in its bid to deliver minimum download speeds of 20Mbps to 18 million users by next year.

IP telephony solutions could profit from faster internet speeds which can help boost call quality and reliability.

The exchanges are used to provide the company's wholesale broadband connect service, which will also be capable of delivering download rates of 40Mbps.

Around 1.5 million UK households and businesses already have access to BT's faster connection.

BT has also announced plans to introduce a network priority service for business VoIP users.

The software could enable firms to provide more bandwidth to VoIP during peak network use.
