BT praises VoIP solutions

Telecommunications giant BT has praised the impact of VoIP solutions, it has been revealed.

Simon Milner, director of group industry policy at BT, claimed every company should respond to disruptive consumer behaviour by continually developing voice technology.

He claimed IP telephony solutions, which allow users to make cheap international calls via the internet, was a prime example of an innovative technology.

Mr Milner told industry officials at the Westminster eForum keynote seminar: "The most recent one for us has been VoIP. Coming up with really innovative new approaches to voice is an important part of what we and BT are going to do."

A recent report by research firm Frost and Sullivan revealed that the VoIP industry will continue to grow in the future as more people access the service.

The company found that the VoIP customer base increased by 40.1 per cent, leading to a 22.3 per cent increase in revenues during 2009.
