New Blackberry phone could boost VoIP trafficPosted 1 year 6 months ago in: Hardware ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-07-29 Rate this article: VoIP traffic could be set to rise following the anticipated release of the latest Blackberry mobile phone.
The BlackBerry 9800 is expected to be launched by developers Research in Motion (RIM) at an event in New York next week. The new handset is expected to use RIM's new operating system - BlackBerry OS 6 - which features an improved internet browser. It will also feature a touch screen and a full slide-out keyboard. VoIP traffic could increase as Blackberry customers will be able to access IP telephony solutions via Wi-Fi. Nick Agostino, an analyst for Mackie Research Capital, claimed the new phone will be crucial if RIM is to compete with Apple and Google. He told Reuters: "This is an opportunity for RIM to respond, not only on the operating system and browser-side, but equally importantly, that they have a nice smooth operating piece of hardware." Reports claim the new model could be released in the US before the end of August, while it could be launched in Europe in October. © Adfero LtdRelated articlesShareComments![]() Be the first to write a comment!
