Growth in UC could boost VoIP trafficPosted 1 year 6 months ago in: General VoIP ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-07-27 Rate this article: VoIP traffic could be set to rise as more businesses adopt Unified Communications (UC) strategies, it has been claimed. UC merges all methods of communication, such as IP telephony solutions and e-mail, in one package to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Bennie Langenhoven, writing for mybroadband.co.za, expressed his belief that UC will benefit consumers. He said: "The concept is already a transformative influence in the workplace, as various social/Web 2.0 technologies already offer communication and collaborative functionality. "As a critical mass of enterprise vendors catch up, expect explosive opportunity for end-users." Mr Langenhoven added that companies should "keep an eye" on the current UC solutions available as the technology is constantly evolving. New communication methods, such as social networking, could also integrated into UC as they become more popular, he added. A study by The Radicati Group revealed that the global on-site UC market is predicted to be worth $1.5 billion (£967 million) by 2014.
