UK could access better VoIP solutions than US

UK consumers could be able to access higher-quality VoIP solutions than their US counterparts, it has been revealed.

A new report by market research firm Strategy Analytics has found that broadband services in Britain are better than those in the US.

The company rated the technology in 57 countries using five different categories, including speed, cost, urban quotient, affordability and household penetration.

The results ranked the UK one place above America, as they finished 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Faster broadband can improve the quality of IP telephony solutions as the connection can handle more voice data.

Ben Piper, director of the firm's multiplay market dynamics service and author of the report, claimed broadband quality should be rated with numerous criteria.

"We feel confident that our multifactor index is a superior indicator of a country's relative broadband advancement," he said.

South Korea was considered to offer the best broadband services, followed by Hong Kong, Holland, Lithuania and Japan.
