VoIP solutions could benefit from the continued broadband roll-out across Kent.

Kent County Council (KCC) has spent £486,000 to provide broadband to rural areas of the county which were previously unable to receive the technology, reports kentnews.co.uk.

Following the installation of new equipment, 6,800 more properties now have a broadband connection.

Faster broadband speeds could mean IP telephony solutions users in the area profit from higher call quality.

Councillor Roger Gough, KCC cabinet member for corporate support services and performance management, claimed every resident will soon have broadband access.

"Broadband is essential for business to expand and it provides people with a social network, too. This is one step closer to our goal of having complete coverage across the county so everyone can benefit from the internet," he said.

The latest council grant allowed customers in the parish of Iwade to access BT's fibre-optic broadband.

Around 1,350 homes now have a 40Mb internet connection.
