VoIP solutions could be perfect for small businesses upgrading

VoIP solutions could present the best solution for smaller firms looking to update and upgrade their communications systems.

That is according to technology website VoIP Insider, which stated that there are three scenarios in which the technology might be most appealing to small businesses.

These are when an existing system is failing or licensing is about to expire; when moving to a new office; or when a business feels it is currently paying too much for its existing communications systems.

"VoIP is consistently in the media and millions of other businesses have made the switch making it a popular talking point," it said.

However, the site also urged that small businesses make sure that VoIP will be a good fit for them before making the switch.

Earlier this month, it was reported that culture secretary Jeremy Hunt would meet with the telecoms industry to discuss the possibility of meeting its commitment to universal 2Mbps broadband.

Such a development would likely boost VoIP traffic, particularly in rural areas where some businesses are still unable to access affordable broadband.
