A new mobile VoIP application has been launched which could boost VoIP traffic.

US firm Oomas has released its Ooma Mobile Application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The new application allows customers to use the company's VoIP solution via a wireless internet connection or over a 3G network.

VoIP traffic could increase following the release of the new application as more people gain access to the technology.

Users can benefit from reduced domestic phone bills as call charges are less compared to traditional networks, while international rates are significantly lower as well.

Tami Bhaumik, vice president of corporate marketing at Ooma, claimed the new software would be welcomed by customers.
"For consumers who want competitive rates for domestic and international calls, exceptional functionality and ease of use, Ooma fits the bill, without sticking you with the bill," he said.
