A US shoe manufacturer has adopted VoIP solutions as part of its switch to Unified Communications (UC).

VoIP provider Network Equipment Technologies (NET) and UC supplier Convergent have developed the VX Series platform for the Red Wing Shoe Company.

The new technology will allow all forms of communication, including VoIP and e-mail, to be integrated into one package.

Firms who introduce UC can improve efficiency, while companies can also save money on infrastructure and travel costs.

Khai Tran, chief executive officer of Convergent, was full of praise for the technology and business partner NET.

He said: "Red Wing Shoe Company has been a long-time client of Convergent and trusts us to design, deploy, and maintain their communications system.

"Their [NET's] product is the best available and the company is committed to outstanding service and support."

The system can be expanded to accommodate more workers as the Red Wing Shoe Company continues to grow.
