A US firm has released a new mobile VoIP application which could boost VoIP traffic.

IP telephony solutions provider Vox Communications, a subsidiary of Pervasip, has made the software available to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users.

The move could increase the number of VoIP service users as more people with Apple devices can access the technology.

Mark Richards, Pervasip's chief information officer, claimed the application would help the firm reach new customers.

He said: "We continue to further our reach to more mobile and portable devices at affordable rates with our VoIP application."

Mr Richards also confirmed that, for the first time, Pervasip's web portal will allow non-US based customers to use the software.

Customers will be able to make cheap mobile calls to America, Canada and Puerto Rico from any country in the world, using a Wi-Fi or a 3G data connection.
