More businesses should introduce VoIP solutions in a bid to make cost-savings following the economic downturn, says expert.

David Kohreidze, VoIP expert at ezinearticles.com, claimed that smaller companies in particular can make significant savings from deploying the technology.

He said: "With business VoIP a small start-up company can compete with larger companies.

"With business VoIP's ability to merge together voice-mail, e-mail, telephone, conferencing, and faxing, it is easy to see how such technology can save you money."

Mr Kohreidze also noted how larger firms that have multiple office locations can benefit from IP telephony solutions.

Corporations can save money on travel costs and onsite visits as communication between premises becomes more affordable.

Remote employees can keep in contact with the office through videoconferencing, which is much easier to manage with VoIP.

Furthermore, home workers can operate with the same efficiency as if they were based in the office.
