A US firm has launched a mobileVoIP solutions application designed specifically for military personnel and their families.

Vox Communications, the VoIP communications provider, has developed the new software to enable soldiers to keep in contact with their families while they are abroad.

Although the Vox app can be accessed by the public, soldiers will be offered a 10 per cent service discount and there is a special landing page for military personnel and their families.

Paul Riss, chief executive officer of Pervasip, the group which owns Vox, expressed his belief that the firm will expand its presence in the industry.

He said: "As the mobile VoIP market grows, we expect to quickly take a dominant share of the military portion of the market.

"We look forward to serving the needs of our military by offering some of the best values in mobile communications throughout the world."

The application is available on the majority of smart phones.
