VoIP solutions have been used to improve the speed and quality of healthcare in the Philippines, it has been revealed.
 
The technology has ?helped streamline communications and work-flow within medical institutions, resulting in enhanced productivity and significant revenue savings.

US doctors have even used IP telephony solutions to support fellow professionals in the country during surgery, reports businessmirror.com.

American Technologies (ATI), sourced from global e-tech provider Polycom, provides the service to healthcare professionals.

Ron Emerson, Polycom global director for health-care markets, told the website: "We offer end-to-end video and VoIP solutions for health-care applications that will enable specialists to assist nurses and other medical support personnel in remote areas provide better diagnostic and treatment services to patients, and reduce the time a patient must wait for medical assistance."

Mr Emerson also claimed that the service could be used to enable medical experts to communicate with each other during specialist cases.

?Polycom hopes to form a partnership with the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital which will help connect doctors in all areas of the the country.
