Broadband boom good news for VoIP solutionsPosted 3 months 2 weeks ago in: Broadband ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-05-27 Rate this article: VoIP solutions are set to benefit from the predicted boom in super-fast broadband, according to research. Point Topic, the technology analyst firm, has found that the total number of broadband lines is now expected to reach 25.1 million by the end of 2014 - nearly a million more than previously estimated. Faster connection speeds will improve IP telephony solutions, as VoIP service users will be able to enjoy higher quality calls due to the improved data transfer rates. Demand for super-fast broadband is expected to be the main driving force behind the market growth, as operators begin to introduce fibre-optic networks. Tim Johnson, chief analyst at Point Topic, said: "People with dial-up internet access converted to broadband in their millions in the boom years. We forecast that super-fast broadband will do the same around the middle of this coming decade." Furthermore, the industry has seen higher than expected growth in the short-term, as 80,000 more lines were deployed in 2009 than expected.
