Growing demand for mobile VoIP solutions

Demand for mobileVoIP solutions is steadily increasing, according to experts.

Steven Hartley, principal analyst at telecoms research firm Ovum, claimed that there is a growing clamour for the technology which will eventually force mobile operators to offer VoIP services.

He said: "There is clearly demand. Therefore trying to ignore it, block it, compete with it on an uneven playing field is a waste of time, money and effort"

A recent report by the firm outlined the numerous advantages of implementing the new technology, for both customer and operators.

Mobile VoIP users will benefit from cheaper call plans compared to traditional mobile networks, while reliability will also be improved as the service can be accessed in areas with poor cellular coverage.

Furthermore, firms will be able to attract new users with the promise of savings, while this will also maintain their customer base as many will be unlikely to move to a different operator.

The total number of mobile VoIP users will be reach 288 million by the end of 2013, according to an estimate published in March by market research firm In-Stat.
