A Middle Eastern aviation communication company has completed installation of VoIP services on one of its plane's.

EMS Aviation, in partnership with avionics dealer Eclipse, has introduced the technology on the Airbus A320, a plane used to transport political figures in the Middle East.

The technology will be able to handle significant levels of VoIP traffic, allowing passengers to make multiple simultaneous calls, which will reduce costs.

As the service will be used by high-ranking officials, security was obviously a key issue upon implementing the system.

Passengers will benefit from a managed end-to-end service, which offers the highest possible level of telephony security.

Marc Pinault, Eclipse chief executive officer, said: "The operator’s feedback on the system has been very positive. As a result, cabin voice on this aircraft is exclusively VoIP."

EMS is the first company to introduce IP telephony solutions on an Airbus A320.
