A VoIP phone manufacturer has launched a new handset which could significantly improve VoIP solutions.

Snom has released its first next-generation model, known as the snom 821, which is set to be followed by a series of VoIP business hardware.

The snom 821 will offer improved call quality, a more secure and reliable connection and five-way conferencing.

A statement claimed: "The wideband technology used in the handset captures more than double the frequency spectrum that a standard handset does."

Therefore, the new handset will offer audio quality which is comparable to FM radio, while if a user is on speakerphone, a Class D amplifier will suppress any background noise.

Officials noted the importance of security, and have incorporated features such as a virtual private network and transport layer security into the phone's firmware.

Furthermore, remote employees will be able to keep in contact with the office in various environments as the phone can be used with a power adapter or power-over-ethernet.
