Using mobileVoIP solutions could become increasingly efficient as more and more LTE networks are rolled out around the world.

LTE, a beyond third-generation mobile telephony interface, is gaining momentum, bringing closer the prospect of a viable 4G mobile network, IDC has said.

More than a dozen new networks are set to go live this year, and spending on LTE will exceed spending on Wi-Max by the end of next year, according to the technology market intelligence provider.

The spread of LTE networks could encourage the growth of VoIP traffic as LTE can supply mobile internet at the speed and capacity needed to use mobile IP telephony solutions.

Godfrey Chua, wireless and mobile infrastructure research manager at IDC, said that the "world is coalescing around the LTE standard" because these capabilities will allow it to "address the exploding growth in mobile data traffic".

Near 4G technologies such as Wi-Max and LTE are expected to deliver speed and reliability to wireless users, wireless industry jobs website 4G Wireless Jobs said recently.

The bandwidth and consistency of mobile internet access that 4G is anticipated to provide could enhance the use of mobile VoIP provider applications.
