VoIP traffic over 3G cost-efficient for existing users

Using IP telephony solutions via third-generation wireless technology can be as cost-effective as any other means of communication if you are already a 3G user.

3G subscribers who already use their plan for surfing the web or gaming would find it economical to adopt a VoIP provider application, Nadeem's Voice Over IP Blog has said.

The VoIP blog goes on to advise those who are considering using VoIP solutions in conjunction with a 3G data plan to compare it to other available means of communication.

Factors that should be considered are the frequency and length of calls, the reason for subscribing to 3G and the limitations of any 3G subscription.

Nadeem Unuth, author of Nadeem's Voice Over IP Blog, said that VoIP over 3G would be worth it for heavy callers using an unlimited subscription, which would mean expenditure would not increase alongside bandwidth consumption.

He added that those considering using VoIP over 3G to make international calls should look into whether they would save enough money to cover the cost of a 3G plan.

The mobile infrastructure market is set to grow substantially over the next five years as 3G technology succeeds 2G, Dell'Oro Group said earlier this year.
