The mobile sector will grow by 1.4 per cent to £362 billion this year, according to the business information provider. The strongest growth has been seen from services such as VoIP solutions on fixed and mobile networks, which are up 16 per cent to over £122 billion. The Mobile VoIP Market Report 2010-2015 also predicts that internet connection and data service sales on fixed networks will grow by seven per cent to almost £174 billion in 2010. The growing market share of smartphones is expected to offer potential for third-party applications developers in the VoIP provider community. Six billion applications are expected to be downloaded in 2010. Booming smartphone sales have boosted VoIP's presence in established markets, while the availability of entry level devices has paved the way for VoIP traffic in emerging markets. There will be more smartphones in the US markets than feature phones by next year, according to a recent survey by global information and media company Nielsen.
