The next iPhone could improve the experience of using mobileIP telephony solutions offered by previous models.

Details of the next iPhone were revealed earlier this week by gadget guide Gizmodo after it was left in a bar in California by an Apple software engineer last month.

This 'next-generation' iPhone appears to feature a secondary microphone for noise cancellation - to reduce unwanted ambient sounds - which would enhance the sound quality of voice calls received via VoIP traffic.

The person who found the handset said it was running iPhone OS 4.0 before being shut down remotely. Apple's new operating system will bring multitasking to the iPhone, allowing users to quickly switch between applications.

This means that the new iPhone will be able to constantly run VoIP solutions in the background while it is being used for other tasks.

The 'lost and found' handset also appears to incorporate a front-facing camera, which could see the iPhone spearheading the popularisation of video calling.

With the advent of 3G and 4G networks, it is anticipated that VoIP solutions will be used in conjunction with unlimited wireless data plans to replace established mobile voice services, Unified Communications Strategies said recently.
