The eventual roll-out of fourth generation wireless technologies could enrich the experience of using mobileVoIP solutions.

Near 4G technologies such as Wi-Max and LTE are expected to deliver speed and reliability to wireless users, 4G Wireless Jobs has said.

The bandwidth and consistency of mobile internet access that 4G is anticipated to provide could enhance the use of mobile VoIP provider applications.

However, Wi-Max and LTE "are evolutions to 4G and not 4G themselves", according to telecommunications professional Gunjan Indrayan, writing for wireless industry jobs website 4G Wireless Jobs.

Operators are rolling out these "3.5G" technologies first because they "do not want to create too much supply before understanding the demand", Mr Indrayan explained.

"The big leap that will bring a disruptive change" is some way off though, with lack of spectrum being the main obstacle to commercial 4G at present.

Mobile operators should invest in 4G without delay as it is already in demand, BroadbandIgnite said recently.

The speed, reliability and multimedia functionality that 4G would bring to mobile applications like IP telephony solutions means that mobile customers want it now, according to the broadband communications forum.
