Many businesses are making the transition from standard landlinetelephone services to IP telephony solutions to cut their communications costs, Phone.com has said.

According to the home and business phone company, VoIP phones are a wise choice as they provide companies with the "opportunity to improve the financial bottom line".

This is primarily because many VoIP solutions cost a lot less per month than a traditional telephone service, allowing businesses to improve their outgoings on telecommunications "right off the bat".

The VoIP provider market is also able to offer enterprises a range of services that landline carriers either cannot provide or can only provide at extra cost.

VoIP can also often reduce the need for additional phone lines, saving businesses another expense. Call forwarding combined with queuing means that overflow calls can be pushed through to other numbers, such as mobile phones.

Phone.com adds that VoIP can also help companies retain customers by giving them a professional image via the likes of online click to call buttons, voicemail and on hold messages.

The use of IP telephony solutions is now "moving into the small business mainstream", the FOX Business Network said recently.
