56% happy with broadband speed

The latest results from ISPreview UK's monthly survey on broadband speed show that 56 per cent of UK consumers are happy with their broadband speed.

This level of satisfaction indicates that, while UK broadband provisioning is not the worst, there is far more that needs to be done.

And, of the respondents, over 41 per cent claimed to be downloading over 30GB (gigabytes) per month, making it likely that some of those satisfied with their broadband speed were also heavy users of traffic.

Broadband supports VoIP, so having an effective, high-value broadband connection helps to support and provide the infrastructure for efficient VoIP.

Fifty-nine per cent of users were using a package with an advertised speed of 8Mbps (Megabit per second), so there is still growth available in the heavy bandwidth market for the digital phone service user.

It's great to see that broadband speeds are becoming more reliable, for many years I was stuck with a 56k dialup connection, sometimes waiting for minutes for a page to load! It's also so much easier to compare broadband and find best value broadband packages, I now just cannot wait for ultra fast broadband to be rolled out!
