Broadband speed is not the be all and end allPosted 1 year 10 months ago in: Broadband ![]() Telappliant News: 2010-04-08 Rate this article: O2's head of home and broadband has spoken out about Ofcom's focus on broadband speed. Writing on his blog, Felix Geyr said that "misleading customers on [broadband] speed is unacceptable". However, he is not sure that "basing products on speed is the right thing to do anyway". Essentially, Mr Geyr believes that broadband speeds, both stated and actual, can be misleading and confusing for the consumer and, by selling a service on speed, an internet service provider can fail in its other customer service duties. He explained that a situation may arise where the broadband industry "will have to change the way it packages broadband. Whatever that is will have to make packages clearer and more straightforward for customers". While speed is important to VoIP, other factors such as ease of access and reliability are also important.
