Tesco has shut its VoIP traffic supporting
VoIP service, creating a space in the market for a dedicated VoIP retailer.
A Tesco spokesperson told PC Pro: "We found Tesco customers werent really using it and taking it up. We launched the service quite a while ago now and technology and communications have moved forward a long way."
Either through poor marketing or poor targeting the service is being closed. This will create space on both the local infrastructure and on a national level for the deployment of a further, more advanced,
VoIP solution.
With sprawling companies like Tesco moving away from VoIP, consumers will receive major dividends in the form of increased service from a
VoIP provider, which will step into the VoIP traffic vacuum left by Tesco's departure.
