VoIP upgrade drives sales at beauty salon

VoIP can be a great way for individuals to make cheap or even free telephone calls over the internet.

But it is also a compelling technology for businesses, especially in the SME sector.

One small firm in Manchester recently benefited from upgrading its VoIP offering.

The Brazilian Waxing Company, which specialises in Brazilian waxing for male and female clients, said VoIP had helped drive bookings.

Speaking to Computer Weekly, a company spokesman said upgrading the broadband connection had provided the breakthrough, delivering more reliable VoIP calls and a quicker online booking experience for customers.

Reliable broadband networks are vital for VoIP services. In last week's Budget, the government said it would introduce a landline tax to help pay for the rollout of broadband in rural areas, increasing the number of potential VoIP users.
