Broadband speeds could double for residents of the islands of Guernsey, potentially boosting VoIP traffic for all in the area, ISPreview.co.uk has reported.

Cable & Wireless have announced plans to double the majority of broadband lines for the same price. All 2Mbps (Megabits per second) lines will be upgraded to 4Mbps and existing 4Mbps lines will be upgraded to 8Mbps.

Paul Taylor, Cable & Wireless Guernsey's marketing director said that: "Our priority has been to deliver a quality broadband service, to the maximum number of people, over a strong, resilient network. A higher proportion of our population can now receive broadband than in the UK - a fact that we are particularly proud of."

With the network upgrade on the cards, Guernsey residents will soon no longer have to worry about having easy access to fast VoIP traffic supporting broadband.
