Global market for VoIP equipment in recovery

Infonetics Research has released its fourth quarter report on the state of the VoIP equipment and subscribers market and has shown that the market has stabilised after recent troubles.

Worldwide, the service provider VoIP equipment market - which directly supports the potential for global VoIP traffic - finished the year down at $2.48 billion (£1.64 billion).

By quarter four 2009, VoIP equipment revenue was up slightly at 2.7 per cent above quarter three 2009, providing a respite from the freefalling prices that have dominated the market in recent months.

Along with this, internet protocol multimedia subsystems, which help support VoIP traffic and VoIP networks where deployed, saw revenue totals $426 million (£283.3 million) in 2009 and it is forecast to climb to $1.44 billion (£0.95 billion) by 2014.
