O2 fastest internet provider in London

Users of IP telephony solutions should opt for O2 as their service provider, if they live in London, a survey has found.

In a survey commissioned by the telecommunications company and SIRODA - a network specialist - O2 was able to take the top of the list due to it having the fastest access speeds.

In January 2010 the average time taken to load a page with an O2 connection was 1.7 seconds, while for downloading music O2 was shown to be the second-fastest in four UK cities and fastest in 12 of the 20 UK key cities.

The chief technology officer at O2, Derek McManus, said: "Our London customers are now seeing the benefits of the investment we made before Christmas, where we spent £30 million delivering 40 new sites."

An effective, fast mobilebroadband network is a requirement for VoIP on the go, so the news will be encouraging for users who had reservations over their mobile network's ability to support VoIP traffic.
