Orange has announced that it is cutting daily roaming fees for its mobilebroadband services in Europe, slashing the cost for users of making use of VoIP solutions.

Mobile broadband allows users to access the internet from their phone and supports VoIP traffic, allowing users to make cheap calls over the internet.

Customers choosing Orange's new daily bundle can now get two megabytes of data each day for £2 or 50 megabytes of data each day for £8.50.

This can allow users to make cheap VoIP calls from their phones, saving them from the (usually) high costs of calling abroad when roaming Europe.

In a possible tacit nod to VoIP use by consumers, Orange's Olaf Swantee said: "Our customers shouldn't be constrained by national boundaries or worries over their bill when they're abroad."

Mr Swantee explained: "For roughly the price of a cup of coffee, we are helping our customers keep doing what they're doing".

The increase in connectivity options is sure to be welcomed by consumers and, given sufficient marketing, may increase consumer knowledge about the levels of savings users can make if they use VoIP solutions when roaming abroad.
